On June 14th my colleagues Peter van den Bosch, Han Rademaker and myself will run a VMware Site Recovery Workshop (SRM). The title of the workshop is “Disaster Recovery with VMware SRM”.
DR is getting more and more important with increasing continuity requirements. If you have more than 1 datacenter and you’re running VMware vSphere you have two options: Configure a stretched cluster (for some resources on this subject, see this article) or implement VMware Site Recovery Manager. The workshop will compare both options, but focus on SRM. The workshop will also deal with general DR considerations.VMware SRM allows you to run an automated failover from datacenter A to datacenter B. You can also run a so called “failover test”, which tests you SRM failover scenario without disrupting your production environment.
The agenda for the workshop is:
- 9:30 Welcome
- 10:00 DR and Compliancy (Peter van den Bosch)
- 10:45 Break
- 11:00 SRM vs Streched Cluster –> SRM Technology Review (Viktor van den Berg)
- 12:00 Lunch
- 13:00 SRM Demo (Viktor van den Berg)
- 13:45 Break
- 14:00 SRM Value Proposition (Han Rademaker)
- 14:30 End
The workshop is in Dutch. More information is available on the PQR website. Although the workshop is free, you have to subscribe. A few places are available, so don’t wait too long.
