Last Friday the 8th edition of the VMUG Event took place in the NBC Conference Center in Nieuwegein. For me it was a different event compared to the previous editions.
As a VMUG leader for The Netherlands I was responsible for the content of the 2007-2011 editions of the event. Since I stepped back as VMUG leader earlier this year, the responsibility for content for the Dutch VMUG Event is now with the VMUG Customer Council (VCC). Although things are still in transition, de VCC will become more and more responsible for the Dutch VMUG and its event. XTG is Founding Partner of the event and facilitating the Dutch VMUG.
The VMUG Customer Council (VCC) is a group of enthusiastic VMware users, with Ferry Limpens as the chairman of this council. Although I am not the VMUG leader anymore, I will still be involved in VMUG as member of this Customer Council.
2013 will be a year of change (yes, we can:)) for the Dutch VMUG. The Dutch VMUG and the international VMUG will intensify their relationship, which will bring more advantages to the VMUG members. Victor Bohnert of the international VMUG was attending this year’s VMUG Event and actually told about the cooperation between Dutch VMUG and VMUG International.
I hoped everybody enjoyed this year’s VMUG Event! For me it was a great experience, to be more of a visitor than an organizer for this time. Wow, there’s just too much to do at the event. Of course I still presented one session which was titled “vSphere, what option do you choose for DR (or in Dutch: vSphere – Hoe is uw Disaster Recovery geregeld?)”. Check this blog article for some more info on this presentation.
Finally, a thank you to the Dutch VMUG Customer Council, XTG and VMware the Netherlands for the presents and all the compliments I received during the opening of the VMUG Event 2012. Let’s see what 2013 will bring!
