After all the announcements of last week, you might have overlooked the availability of the vRA Management Pack 2.0.
The vRealize Automation Management Pack extends operational management capabilities of the vRealize Operations Manager platform to provide information on how vSphere objects are linked to entities in vRealize Automation. With this management pack you get info on how tenants, computer resources, reservations and business groups are linked to vSphere entities as clusters, virtual machines and datastores.
The vRA Management Pack 2.0 provides several new features:
- Upgrade support from vRealize Automation Management Pack 1.0
- Upgrade support for vRealize Automation endpoint
- vRealize Automation 7.0 support
- Support for High Availability (HA) large scale setup
- Support for latest CAFÉ and WAPI APIs
- Adapter instance configuration per tenant(s)
- Localization support
The vRealize Automation 7.0 support is of course something we’ve been waiting for.
Notice that the CAFÉ interface is now supported by the management pack, which drastically improves performance. The old WAPI interface supports about 1000 virtual machines, while the management pack now support monitoring 8000 VMs when using the CAFÉ interface. Notice that you need vRA 7 to use the CAFÉ interface, vRA 6.x only supports the WAPI interface.
The vRealize Automation Management Pack 2.0 is available for free through the Solutions Exchange. The full release notes are available here.
I also recommend to read this article by Jad El-Zein on how to install the management pack.
