This year VMworld is an online around the globe event, 48 hours of non-stop innovation. Register today to be part of show.
VMworld is all about great content, vision & innovation, engage & interact…but there’s also time for some fun and interaction with the vCommunity! In this article I will have a closer look at the vCommunity & fun activities at VMworld:
- The VMUG VMworld Member Party
- Join the vCommunity on Discord
- John Legend performance & the Entertainment Zone
- VMworld Challenge
- Post VMworld: CodeConnect 2020
- Post VMworld (for vCommunity members from BeNeLux): the vMA & vNS TechCon
The VMUG VMworld Member Party
Prior to VMworld there’s a virtual VMUG Member Party. This is an on-line 3D experience and there are some great prizes to win. Special guests are Sanjay Poonen, Nolan Bushnell and the Hey Jimmy Band. We of course all know Sanjay Poonen, but do you know Nolan Bushnell? He’s the co-founder of Atari and will be present at the VMUG member party.
Full details are available at vmug.com, registration is free – you have to be registered for VMworld as well.
Join the vCommunity on Discord
This is an interesting initiative: Orbital Jigsaw community launched a new Discord server fully dedicated for VMworld 2020. Join this Discord server prior to- and during VMworld to fully experience the vCommunity!
There will be live conversations during the VMworld keynote & breakout watch parties and there will be birds-of-a-feather roundtables. Also vBrownbag and VMunderground are participating in this initiative, so be sure to take a look. Full details of all the activities are available on Discord.
If you want to learn more or you want to participate in this initiative, check out Jeremiah’s posts here and here. If you want to get on-boarded quickly, there’s a YouTube movie available that explains the on-boarding process.
The VMworld Discord server is available at https://discord.gg/U8H7AS2.
John Legend performance & the Entertainment Zone
Yes, it’s true: John Legend will perform during VMworld 2020. You can register for his performance through the Content Catalog.
Throughout the event there are different “Entertainment Zone” sessions available, some are live and some are on-demand. You can register for these sessions through the content catalog, just select “Entertainment Zone” as a Session Type. There’s a performance painter, magician, comedy and more. A full overview is available here.
Social media & most popular #hashtags
Of course we can all use Twitter, LinkedIN, Facebook, Instagram and YoutTube to share our VMworld experiences. For VMworld there are a few hashtags you can use on your favourite social media platform: #vmworld (of course), #vmworldHOL, #vmworld3word, #vmworldselfie and #vmworldfest.
VMworld Challenge
There are some great prizes to win in this year’s VMworld Challenge. The VMware Challenge is a game where you advance through the tiers after attending sessions, interaction with sponsors and get hands-on experience. Different prizes are available, including VMworld branded t-shirts, backpacks, a special personalized “thank you” from a VMware executive and even VMworld conference passes (for any future VMworld event).
Read more about the VMworld Challenge here, be sure to participate!
