If you are planning to attend VMworld 2014 than it’s probably good to know that you can have a voice in what sessions are being accepted. This unique conference concept called Public Session Voting is now open at the vmworld.com website.
This year Arnim van Lieshout (@avlieshout, www.van-lieshout.com) and I submitted a session proposal. If you want to learn how vCloud Automation Center (vCAC) and vCenter Orchestrator (vCO) can be used in tandem to get the most out of your cloud implementation and effectively reduce Virtual Machine provisioning time, then vote for our session now!
Session 1575: “It Takes Two to Tango: Optimize Virtual Machine Provisioning Using vCloud Automation Center and vCenter Orchestrator”
Do you want to learn how to integrate vCloud Automation Center (vCAC) with your existing IP address management solution (IPAM) or Configuration Management Database (CMDB) system? Do you want to know how to extend functionality and add custom virtual machine actions (2nd day operations) on existing machines deployed in vCloud Automation Center?
Join Arnim van Lieshout and Viktor van den Berg in this interactive session and learn how vCenter Orchestrator (vCO) can help to maximize the benefit of a vCloud Automation Center implementation. vCloud Automation Center provides a self-service portal and different options for automated service delivery, application deployment, policy-based governance and resource management. vCenter Orchestrator is further integrated in vCAC version 6 and is playing an important role in virtual machine provisioning and the Advanced Service Designer. Although vCAC offers a broad out of the box feature set, the use of vCenter Orchestrator is recommended when you want to:
- Customize and integrate the virtual machine provisioning process with existing systems;
- Create custom actions on deployed virtual machines in vCAC using the Advanced Service Designer.
Based on real-life examples and best practices Arnim and Viktor will show how to achieve these customizations using both Infrastructure as a Service (IAAS) extensibility workflows and the Advanced Service Designer. If cloud automation is on your roadmap, be sure to attend this session.
As always there are a lot of good breakout-sessions in the VMworld catalog. I want to point out a few submission from some friends & colleagues:
- 1536 – From the fire hose series; an insider’s guide to Horizon View on VSAN, Herco van Brug (PQR);
- 1576 – REST API extensibility, Eric Sloof (ntpro.nl). Visit’s Eric website for more info on his breakout session.
- 1258 – From the Fire Hose Series: 3D Graphics for Virtual Desktops Smackdown, Ruben Spruijt (PQR) and Bernhard Tritsch (BlueCue);
